Frequently asked questions

What travelers ask us most before their trip, answered with the real conditions of our tours.

Trust and bookings

Ask for its National Tourism Registry (RNT) number and its tax ID (NIT), and check that the RNT is current: in Colombia it is mandatory for providing tourism services, and it is managed by the Chambers of Commerce. Also ask for a written quote stating what is and is not included, and pay through a method that leaves a record. Viajeros con Sabor operates as REAL ESTATE CAPITAL COLOMBIA SAS, tax ID 901630707-1, with RNT 204034 as a tour operator travel agency; the certificate is published in our Legal Center.

Is Viajeros con Sabor a registered agency?

Yes. Viajeros con Sabor is a trademark operated by REAL ESTATE CAPITAL COLOMBIA SAS (tax ID 901630707-1), listed in Colombia’s National Tourism Registry under number 204034 as a tour operator travel agency, valid until 31 March 2027. Our office is at Cl. 26, Av. Las Palmas #38-26, Edificio BIO26, Medellín.

How do I book and pay?

Choose the tour, the date and the number of travelers on our website, and before paying you will see the total price and what is included. Payment is made through the Bold payment gateway by card, PSE, Nequi or other methods it offers. You can pay 100 %, or, if you book more than seven days in advance, a 30 % deposit with the balance paid at the latest when the activity begins. Same-day bookings are not accepted.

How much does a private tour in Medellín cost?

It depends on the tour and the number of people: on a private tour the price is per group, so the cost per person drops when more of you travel. On our website you choose the tour, the date and the travelers, and you see the total price before paying. If you prefer, we can send you a quote on WhatsApp.

How our private tours work

What is a private tour and how is it different from a group tour?

On a private tour you travel only with the people in your booking: the vehicle, the driver and the guide are for your group, and the day follows your pace. On a group tour you share the route with strangers and fixed times. All our tours are private.

Do you pick me up at my hotel?

Yes. Transport is included, with one pickup point and one return point of your choice within the Medellín metropolitan area, at no extra charge. They can be different places, for example your hotel on the way out and a restaurant on the way back.

What languages are the tours in?

Spanish or English, at no additional cost. You choose the language when booking.

How many people can join a tour?

From one person up to 40 per booking. Every traveler, children included, counts toward the vehicle’s capacity.

Can I bring children or a pet?

Yes. Conditions for children under five vary by tour and are shown before you pay. Minors travel with their father, mother or an authorized adult. If you travel with a pet, let us know when booking: we check the transport and the places you will visit, although not every establishment admits pets.

Guatapé and Piedra del Peñol

What does the private Guatapé tour include?

It includes private transport with pickup and return, a guide, breakfast at Alto del Chocho, admission to the Upside-Down House, the stop at Piedra del Peñol, lunch at the Malecón, the walk through the town of painted zócalos and medical assistance. It does not include the ticket to climb the Rock, paid at the ticket office, the drink with lunch, purchases at the stops or optional activities.

How long does it take from Medellín to Guatapé, and how long is the tour?

Guatapé is about 80 kilometers from Medellín, close to two hours by road depending on traffic. Our tour lasts about eight hours including pickup and return: we usually leave at 8:00 a.m., with flexibility until 10:00 a.m.

Can I visit Guatapé and return the same day?

Yes, it is the most common plan from Medellín. In one day you have time for breakfast on the way, climbing Piedra del Peñol, lunch by the reservoir and a walk through the town.

How many steps does Piedra del Peñol have?

More than 700, along a zigzag staircase built into the rock up to the lookout at the top. You climb at your own pace, with rests. The ticket is paid at the ticket office and is not included in the tour.

What should I bring to Guatapé?

Comfortable clothes and shoes for the climb, sunscreen, a cap, a light jacket in case of rain or cooler weather, water and some cash for the Rock ticket and personal expenses.

Planning your trip

How many days do I need in Medellín?

Three days cover the essentials: one for the city, such as downtown, Comuna 13 or the Botanical Garden; another for Guatapé; and one more for Jardín, the Pueblos Mágicos or a coffee farm.

When is the best time to visit Medellín?

Any time: Medellín has a mild climate all year round, which is why it is called the city of eternal spring. It tends to rain more in two seasons, around April and May, and October and November; a light jacket is enough.

Is Medellín safe for tourists?
